MECHANICS
and
MATERIALS

Mechanics and Materials (MEMA) is an interdisciplinary graduate program in the College of Engineering. The primary focus of the program is to offer graduate courses in the broad areas of mechanics and materials. The mechanics and materials course offerings perform three major functions. First and foremost, they are interdisciplinary vehicles for staff and students who study and conduct research in interdisciplinary areas requiring a blending of mechanics and materials. Second, they provide the support base for graduate students to pursue studies in the traditional areas of applied mechanics and materials science. Third, they provide a coordinated set of service courses for the engineering departments. Faculty from the departments of Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are involved in teaching the MEMA courses. Interested students may contact the individual faculty members or MEMA Coordinators.
