Fuel properties reveal the combustion characteristics of a process, and also its ash contents show the usability of the fuel in different applications. For example, low ash fuels could be used for firing in conventional fire tube boilers, while high ash fuels could be used in gasification processes. Important fuel properties of various types of biomass are collected from various sources; such as NIST and other national labs which is maintained in a fuel data bank.

  • TAMU Fuel Data Bank is available on an EXCEL spreadsheet, which contains data on Ultimate and Proximate Analysis, Heating Values and Ash contents
  • The data bank in EXCEL will provide input to other programs which generate a wide variety of fuel properties including gasification and combustion data
