Based on many requests from both industrial and academic researchers, we are making arrangements to offer the next version of Thermosys software as follows:
Faculty and students at domestic and international universities will be able to download a version of Thermosys under a free academic license. Distribution will be through the University of Illinois Office of Technology Management, and is tentatively scheduled for summer 2007.
Industrial members of the ACRC will be able to download a version of Thermosys that includes components developed with ACRC support. The beta version is now available at the ACRC website, members section. The formal release of Thermosys 2007a is planned for March 12, 2007.
Industrial partners with a Sponsored Research Agreement will have access to Thermosys, including basic and custom models. To arrange for a SRA, please email thermosys@ieee.org.
If you have further questions, please email thermosys@ieee.org.
Current Software Downloads Available to ACRC Member Companies Only (Password Required)
Thermosys Toolbox for Matlab® is a set of dynamic simulation tools for air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. The toolbox contains dynamic models of the basic components used in subcritical and transcritical vapor compression cycles, such as: evaporator, condenser, gas cooler, compressor, expansion valve, receivers, and accumulators. The ability to simulate multi-evaporator systems has recently been added. Each component has a user interface to allow easy entry or alteration of the physical parameters of each component. Currently, the available working fluids are R134a, R744 (CO2), R22, R404a, and R410a. Other fluids will be added as they are requested.
The beta version of Thermosys 2007a is now available at the ACRC website under the member's section. The User's Guide and the related Technical Reports (TR-204 and TR-216) can also be accessed at this website
Note: The toolbox requires Matlab/Simulink®, and the Optimization Toolboxfor Matlab.
