Current Research Topics • Investigation and synthesis of new nanostructured materials including nanowires, nanotubes, nanoparticles, nanostructure embedded composites, polymer nanocomposites, and metal oxides for thermoelectric and photovoltaic energy conversion systems • Measurements of thermal and electrical transport properties of various nanostructures, thin films, and polymer nanocomposites • Investigation of alternative and renewable power generation systems • Synthesis and characterization of nanocomposite materials for the thermal management of heat dissipating devices and systems
Graduate/Undergraduate Research Positions Those who have strong interest or/and experience in nano/micro-science/engineering/technology are encouraged to contact Dr. Yu. · Students must have at least one of the following. - Strong enthusiasm for nano/micro-science/engineering (Most important) - Fabrication and analysis skills of thermoelectric and photovoltaic energy conversion systems - Knowledge in solid state physics and nanoscale heat transfer - Experience in nanowire/nanotubes/nanobelt synthesis (CVD, PVD, etc) and characterization (TEM, SEM, XRD, AFM) - Experience in organic (or polymer) composite synthesis and characterization - Microfabrication skills (lithography, etc) - Experience in biomedical devices and materials
